Recently, a customer contacted me to inquire about a canvas for a wedding. Canvases are easy! Absolutely. I’ll do it. No big deal. He wanted the wedding lyrics in the shape of a heart. On a 30×40 canvas. I’ve never personally made a canvas this size, so I said no without hesitation. I never thought twice about the size of the canvas until S brought it inside. Oh. My. Gosh. How did I not realize how big that would be?
I created the design in Photoshop by creating a heart shape and adding text inside. I was originally going to make a stencil, but when I realized how big the canvas was, I decided to trace the design with a projector. If you go this route, make sure your design is the same dimensions as your canvas. I created a 30×50 image in Photoshop, so I really struggled getting it to line up on the canvas.
I’m pretty pleased with the final result. There are things I will do different the next time, but the customer is happy so I am happy!
